SlimQuick Liver Damage Lawsuit

SlimQuick Liver Damage LawsuitSlimQuick, a popular weight loss supplement marketed to women, may have the potential to cause serious liver injuries, including:

  • Drug induced liver toxicity
  • Drug induced hepatitis
  • Liver Failure

The defective drug lawyers at Parker Waichman LLP are aggressively investigating reports that use of SlimQuick products, including SlimQuick Fat Burner, SlimQuick Caffeine Free, and SlimQuick Razor, led to serious liver injuries.  Our firm’s investigation centers on uva ursi, an herbal ingredient found in SlimQuick weight loss supplements.  Uva ursi contains a chemical called hydroquinone that is toxic to the liver and could damage the organ if taken in high doses.

If you or a woman you care about suffered liver problems that could be associated with SlimQuick, it is vital you contact the SlimQuick liver injury lawyers at Parker Waichman LLP right away.  We are currently offering free legal evaluations to potential SlimQuick victims. Slim Quick and Uva Ursi

SlimQuick promises to help women lose up to 25 lbs of unwanted fat and body weight.  The supplements claim to contain a combination of six weight-loss complexes that assist with fat reduction, slow metabolisms, low energy levels, toxins in the body, poor digestion, high stress and regular bowel movements.  “SlimQuick Fat Burner” and “SlimQuick Caffeine” contain roughly the same ingredients, with the exception of caffeine.   SlimQuick Razor is supposed to be even stronger than the original version.

Uva ursi is one of many ingredients contained in SlimQuick.   Uva Ursi is a low-growing evergreen shrub with creeping stems that form a dark green carpet of leaves. In homeopathy, a tincture of the leaves is believed to be effective in the treatment of cystitis, urethritis, and urinary tract inflammations. The berries are not used medicinally.  The leaves contain hydroquinone derivatives, mainly arbutin and methyl-arbutin in concentrations ranging from 5% to 15%.

Taking a dose of hydroquinone that is greater than 5 grams has been linked to death from liver toxicity. Numerous websites that discuss uva ursi warn that people using this herbal supplement should be under the care of a doctor and carefully follow dosage instructions because of its association with liver toxicity. The maker of SlimQuick claims it can be used safely for up to 13 weeks.  However, most of the literature on uva ursi indicates that it should not be used for more than five days and for no more than five times in one year.

SlimQuick Liver Injury

The labels for SlimQuick weight loss supplements do not contain any specific warning for liver toxicity, drug induced hepatitis or liver failure.  However, the labels do warn that SlimQuick should not be used by people with liver or kidney disorders.  The SlimQuick label also advises users to stop taking the supplement and inform a  doctor immediately if they experience a number of serious symptoms, including  a few that can be indicative of liver failure, such as nausea, abdominal pain, dark urine, or jaundice.

The signs and symptoms of QuickSlim liver injuries may include:

  • Nausea
  • Yellow eyes and skin (jaundice)
  • Itchy skin
  • Bowel movements that are very pale in color
  • Fatigue
  • Weakness
  • Vague abdominal pain
  • Dark urine
  • Loss of appetite

Any of these symptoms could indicate a serious health problem. SlimQuick users who suffer from them should stop using the supplement and seek advice from a doctor immediately.
